Recently I learned about Jeff Patton’s Story Mapping technique for slicing a product backlog. The problem with backlog management is that we want organize in such a way that we can deliver a minimum viable product as fast as possible. This can be quite difficult with a typical flat backlog of independent stories etc. The user stories often lack the context that will tell you how what stories are need in what order by the user to achieve the user’s goals. Story Mapping seems to be a good tool to achieve this.
